2 Sphereotype / Ambrotypes of Same Woman by Vermont Photographer Caleb L Howe sculpture Very good antique condition overallTwo cased 1 9th plate relievo "sphereotype" ambrotypes of the same woman, one with mat stamped "C. L. Howe", the other with no marking, but likely also by Howe, who seemed to be a favorite photographer of this particular family. In both cases, the glass images have been placed above their mats, giving them a bit of a floating appearance. In addition, the backs of the glass have been painted in "silhouette" style to create what is the "relievo" effect.
