they have a bigger pulley there maybe as its a higher speed never had time to think about that

old sticky tape or people using the thicker studio tape which the machine was not designed for

From a Teac A3300 and others this is the voltage selector switch and often on second hand machines is missing and of course then the unit will not work

These are used widely in all the older Teac models later ones don't have the thread although they should all be compatible in most cases
